Bronze sculpture by Matteo Pugliese.
I had a chance to look at some of Pugliese’s sculptural works at the Hong Kong Art Fair last year, and hope to see more one last time before I head off to college in the States. These sculptures, mainly of men made from multiple components appear to escape from the vertical spaces of gallery walls. It is as though they are “traveling in a time tunnel between the previous, the present and the next life or traversing between different worldly situations.” He defines deep and exacting muscles and bone structures, conveying strong emotions.

Yokohama born Hina Aoyama who is currently living in France, creates highly detailed artworks by masterfully cutting layers and pleats on pleats of paper and turning them into beautiful pieces of work that are both delicate and intricate. The delicacy of her work can be seen in the creation of a small butterfly and the level of detail in each and every creation of hers is unbelievable. Aoyama says “I don’t follow traditional, but I am trying to create a mixture of the traditional and modern styles and to produce my own world through this super fine, lacy-paper-cuttings technique.”
Pffff… siento que yo apenas me acabo de meter al túnel :/
